A star, A star…

I remember as a small child the feeling of receiving a star on my homework. Sometimes it was a small gold, red or blue sticker and other times, handwritten in blue or black ink.

I remember “the star” was also a small positive reflection on most every page in my red elementary level piano books. There were times I waited in anticipation for weeks to finally receive a star after sitting practicing and practicing a difficult piece. Honestly, I didn’t care for practicing so maybe the delay of this long awaited affirmation had to do with my lack of enthusiasm for sitting at the piano for what seemed like days when in reality it was barely a half hour.

In Hollywood, to be exact, Hollywood Boulevard, Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90028, one can stroll down the Walk of Fame. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a historic landmark which consists of 2,742 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood, California. It has been said that over 10 million visit this landmark annually! One cannot buy a star…It’s an honor, only achieved by a nomination and then a selective process.

Then, there is the sun. The star that earth revolves around. It brings light and warmth. There are countless stars in the universe but the sun is the closest to earth. If I didn’t intentionally keep my blogs brief, I could go on and on about the positive health benefits of this “star” …

What is it about a star that changes what is mediocre and makes it something extraordinary?

As Christmas approaches I can’t help but mention “A star, a star, dancing in the night, with a tale as big as a kite”… God called out the stars many times in the Bible. He even used stars as a representation of angels.

My favorite by far is “The Star of Bethlehem”…a star that cannot naturally be described by science. It was and is supernatural. God used stars to guide and direct as He did in this story…This “Star” represents the GREATEST story ever told. …a Child, a Child, sleeping in the night, He will bring us goodness and light, He will bring us goodness and light.

My Savior, The Light of the world!
