Almost Paradise

Born in 1972, I was fortunate enough to experience some of the best music ever in my teenage years. Although, I’m not a big fan of rock music, hearing a song from the 80’s is like eating a warm bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup on a cold winter day. “Almost Paradise”, released in 1984 became the love song theme for the hit movie “Footloose.” The majority of millennials will have no recollection of the movies from this genre but almost every one will be able to sing the songs.

I reference this song because it’s what comes to mind when I hear the word “COFFEE.” Recently I had some stomach issues that prevented me from continuing my love affair with the bean. I realized as the two of us were forced to separate, I had a co-dependent issue. I have always referred to my husband as my best friend but after experiencing this tremendous loss, I questioned if I had been in an affair all these years with my coffee pot. It was always been there for me. Through thick and thin. In the morning when I rise and in the evening after dinner. I prayed and prayed my stomach issue would be resolved so I could continue living life to the fullest. Tea for two and two for tea was for someone else, certainly not for me. I’m happy to report that after three long months, I’m enjoying my dark, thick as sludge, black cup of coffee every morning.

I can’t neglect to include my absolute favorite brand of Java. My husband and I are Costco members. Of course, I only purchase whole bean because I like it freshly ground every morning. My favorite for years now is “The yellow bag”…MAYORGA. If you are a serious coffee drinker, TRY IT! On first sip you too might just think you are “knocking on heavens door.”

My thoughts for today…

  1. When God created coffee, He for sure said it was good!
  2. There are plenty of love songs from my teenage years I could reference when discussing my relationship with the bean.
  3. EVERYDAY choose joy!

  1. Oh Lisa, I love my coffee strong but I bet you have me beat in how strong 😊 I’ve been nursing a tooth issue and had to let my coffee get lukewarm before I could drink it (because the pain I felt with hot sent me through the roof!), yuck! Thankfully this morning I had a fairly hot cup without pain! Getting there. Never tried that coffee brand. My hubby makes it in the morning and prefers to have it ready to go 🙂
