This year has been record setting in Lancaster County PA for the amount of consecutive 90+ degree temps. While many discuss global warming, personally, I am living in an Ice Age. I wasn’t sure given this is only my second entry, I should discuss such matters. I am 47 years old and have progressively experienced a radical change in temperature. To my husband’s duress, he has had to adapt to severe weather changes in our bedroom.
Yes, we are living in the “Ice Age.” No more flannel sheets or cozy pj’s. Without notice, someone turned the heat up and I’m on fire! Every year my thermostat seems to go up. The air conditioner stays in until December and the windows are open almost all winter. It was quite an adjustment for my husband. For the first few years, he would get up in the morning and limp to the bathroom from “Frozen Limb Syndrome.” His blanket would come off during the night and whatever was uncovered would freeze up like a popsicle. I felt bad but I had no choice. There are also times I need to bring in extra ammunition. I have resorted to taking the ice packs one would normally use in their cooler, wrap it with a towel and put it on my neck to cool down. Hence, “Ice age.” Sleep is important. Whatever it takes. My thoughts are if I could come up with a comfortable ice wrap for women in this stage of life that would remain cold all night, I would be a very rich woman! Some things I remind myself are…
- This season will pass
- I’m so thankful for ice, air conditioning, and everything cold
- Choose joy everyday

I remember well. I will assure you that this will pass. We still sleep in the winter with our windows open slightly. Sleeping in cool room is better for you then sleeping in a warm room.
