Home Away From Home

Our family has spent every Memorial and Labor Day Weekend the past ten years at a quaint community in Lewes Delaware called Angola By The Bay. A referral of a friend of a friend introduced us to this “home away from home.” The boys were 8, 10, and 12 years old. My dad died way too young. My mom, “Grandma” would drive down to stay with us. The boys always looked forward to vacations with her. We would pack up all the bikes, crab nets, beach gear, food and pack it all into our mini van for a long weekend.

Seasons change.

It’s Labor Day weekend. Traveling to Rehoboth beach has become a nightmare on holiday weekends. My husband and I opted to start our journey at 10pm and we made it to the house around 1:30am. We are sitting having lunch at my now favorite “blog spot”, The Station on Kings. It’s just the two of us. Mom is busy downsizing her things to move and our sons are back in college. Our eldest son is going to try and brave the traffic to come down and spend some time with us. He is a pro volleyball player and it’s hard for him to pass up an opportunity for sun, sand, ball and net. Thoughts I’m embracing today…

  1. Extremely grateful for every memory made in this “home away from home”
  2. Family is a precious gift
  3. Everyday choose joy

Lancaster County PA born and bred. I'm a wife, mother of three sons, friend, and real estate agent. Roles which have taught me how to live one day at a time. Most importantly, JOY IS A CHOICE!
