Today, I spotted you picking up something heavy. As you lifted the object my first thought was “What a thankless job.” I wondered how you do this full-time everyday. Through summer’s smoldering nearly 100 degree temps to well below freezing wintery days. I thought of the ridiculous hours you put in and felt compelled to let you know how much I appreciate you.
I apologize for waiting so long to let you know…
I thought about how incredibly hungry you must be after hours of heavy lifting. I hoped you were able to have a good breakfast and I wished I could feed you lunch.
I wondered how you yourself feel about your line of work. I wondered if you feel valued…
Very few people would or could handle your job. It takes a very special human to dispose of other people’s trash. Today, I prayed for your safety. I thought about how you risk your lives riding on the back of a truck from country roads to busy highways.
I wondered what your names are and if you have families. I hoped you are compensated well…YOU DESERVE IT!
Today, God opened by eyes a little wider…
Finally, I want you to know…I did call the company for your names today. Left a message hoping to hear back soon. I want to know your names so I can personally thank each and every one of you who have served our family in this way. Again, I’m sorry it took so long to recognize you but I promise to try harder in the future.
Sincerely,
THE MILLER FAMILY
Thoughts for today…
- NOTE TO SELF…Get better at thanking those with what seems to be thankless jobs.
- Garbage guys/gals are SUPERHERO’S!
- Choose JOY everyday!
I love this so much, Lisa!
