Life Is Too Short…

Life it too short to…

How would you fill in the blank? So many great ways to complete the sentence.

Life is too short to waste time worrying about tomorrow.

Life is too short to hold grudges and harbor unforgiveness.

Life is too short to “fit into a box”…color outside the lines.

Life is too short to never say you’re sorry.

Life is too short to give up chocolate cake. (That’s my top choice.)

Life is too short to pretend you don’t have problems.

So on and so forth…LIFE IS TOO SHORT!

True story. Happened recently. A family member and I had always had a strained relationship. We were quite different. However, that didn’t bother me as much as it did her. Throughout the years, I realized her negative thoughts about me had only grown stronger. I became aware of this from another close family member. I didn’t know what I had done. I didn’t know how to make it better.

I felt prompted to write her a letter as a last ditch effort to restore our relationship after 20+ years. I apologized though I was unsure what I was saying sorry for. That’s exactly how I worded it. “I don’t have any idea what I’ve done. Please forgive me if I hurt you in any way”… A few weeks later, this family member called a breakfast gathering with some other family and asked them to invite me to come along. God restored our relationship that day. She tells me frequently how sorry she is and how much she regrets the time she wasted upset about nothing. My response…NEVER look back. Only forward. Life is way too short to look back and regret what was or could’ve been. I’m forever thankful for her and especially to God for restoring what was broken.

Don’t waste time. Love BIG. Forgive often. Life is too short…

Thoughts for today…

  1. A handwritten letter from the heart is way better than an email or text.
  2. Forgiveness is FREEDOM
  3. Choose Joy EVERYDAY!
